Did you stay up late or wake up early on April 10 to order an Apple Watch? Then you might want to check your order status now.
“Apple Watch pre-orders are being sent to centralized distribution points across the United States as couriers prepare the shipments to be delivered ahead of the wrist-worn device’s launch on April 24,” according to MacRumors, which says its source has “provided accurate information in the past.” MacRumors’ story ran Monday.
MacRumors adds that “iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus pre-orders began switching from ‘Processing Items’ to ‘Preparing for Shipment’ on the Apple Online Store for several customers on the Monday prior to Friday delivery, so customers that pre-ordered the Apple Watch early should see their order status change soon. Due to limited stock and the wide 4/24—5/8 delivery estimate for launch day pre-orders, however, there is a possibility that pre-order statuses may take longer to change.”
To check status, find the email receipt you received from the Apple Store after you ordered your Apple Watch. The email should be from orders.apple.com with the subject heading Your order is being processed. At the top right of the email, you should see a hyperlinked Order Number. Clicking the number takes you to an Apple.com order status page, where you should either see the status as “Processing Items” or, if you’re lucky, “Preparing for Shipment.”
Unfortunately, as of this moment, my order status is the former. I’ve waited seven months already (since Apple’s Sept. 9 introduction of Apple Watch). What’s a few more weeks? Who am I kidding? I. Want. My. Watch. Now.
